Horror films that don't necessarily pop to mind
There are a couple of movies that come to mind that are worth watching, even though they are older and might not be as well known and lack the shock/gore factor. IMO, they are definitely worth looking at.
The two that come to mind are "Carnival of Souls" and "Don't Look Now"
How about suggestions for some more, possibly obscure, horror films that are worth seeing to get a good scare....You know, possibly a movie you've seen, thought was good, but can't find too many other people who have seen it.
Comments
- "And Now The Screaming Starts!" is a good (or at least I think it is) movie from the early 1970's. Also I think of "The Beast Must Die".
Ooo, I love "Carnival of Souls"! - I like "Magic" starring Anthony Hopkins. I agree "Don't Look Now" is definitely worth checking out if you can find it. It was notorious at the time because there was wide speculation that the (extended) sex scene with Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie was genuine!
- Don't Look Now is my all time favourite movie. The on screen chemistry between Donald S and Julie C is amazing. You can download it off the net.....
Subject Two is worth a look, and the first two Hellraisers are great. What about Eraserhead - David Lynch is a legend.
Halla - Lately I have been buying cheap unknown horror flicks in quantity from a seller on eBay and as such I have been coming across movies that you might be interested in (and some that are beyond awful). So far two come to mind: Death Tunnel (creepy romp dealing with co-eds inside the very real Waverly Hills Sanatorium) and Fear of the Dark (minimal death but creepy- deals with boogeyman type creature). That is it for now as it is slow going on my most recent stack...
- Try "The Other" (not the more recent "The Other"
and "Altered States"
