Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter New Images

Written by: Goreboy

Today in horror news we have six new photos from the upcoming horror movie Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter that will be shown in theaters  in 2D and 3D on June 22, 2012.  Enough of the images, we want the trailer!   The images below came from USA Today.

Timur Bekmambetov directs Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Killer written by Seth Grahame-Smith and stars Benjamin Walker (Paradise Lost), Rufus Sewell (Dark City), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (The Thing) and Dominic Cooper (The Devil's Double).

Synopsis: "The film explores the secret life of our greatest president, and the untold history that shaped our nation. As a young boy, Abraham Lincoln witnesses the shocking death of his mother, leading him on a path to an ongoing war - and ultimately to the presidency - he chronicles in a hidden diary. The journal reveals the incredible story of a clandestine warrior who never stopped fighting for the country he led and the people he loved."

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter Come and Get It

Come and get it!
Lincoln eventually works himself up into a fearsome frenzy to vanquish his foes, even running up walls and doing spins as vampires chase him around the room. "He ends up killing these two with a 360-degree full ax weed-whacker moment," says producer Lemley.

A hatchet job
Lincoln learned to use his weapon of choice by splitting rails and chopping trees.  "His father was a woodsman, so he grew up knowing how to handle an ax," producer Lemley says. But his instrument of destruction is not just any old battle ax. "Like Batman's weapons have special features, his is customized."

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter Fight or Flight

Fight and Flight
While not exactly the same high-flying combat style of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, the clashes in Vampire Hunter do contain a fantastical element. "But it has a groundedness," producer Lemley says. As superheroes go, "Lincoln is probably more Batman than Superman."

Once bitten, twice shy

Lincoln in the 1830s heads to New Orleans to rescue a friend and discovers a coven of vampires led by the 5,000-year-old bloodsucker Adam (British actor Rufus Sewell) hiding out in a plantation house. A frantic melee ensues as lady vamp Vadoma (supermodel Erin Wasson) gets ready to rumble.

"These are not party-all-night vampires," producer Lemley explains. "They work all day to exploit humanity." Their secret to surviving in daylight? Sunscreen, invented in the South.

Vampires Southern Style
Vampires, Southern style
In Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the supernatural beings feast on slaves  while using the Civil War to cover their bloody tracks. "Our vampires are the core manifestation of evil," says producer Lemley.  "If they are left unchecked, it will result in the destruction of humanity. Our bad guys are bad." Yet one of the undead decides to assist Lincoln in his hunt for these vicious monsters: Henry Sturges, played by British actor Dominic Cooper.  "He vows to help human beings in their struggle."

Speak softly and carry a big ax
Finding the right actor to star in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, opening June 22, was a tall order. Literally, since the 16th president was a strapping 6-foot-4.  Enter Benjamin Walker, 29, best known for his stage work and the fact that he is Meryl Streep's son-in-law.

"Norman Rockwell in 1965 did a painting called Lincoln the Railsplitter," says producer Jim Lemley. "He's in his prime, about 30 years old, with an ax. It's an amazing painting and exactly what we had in mind. And Benjamin had that. "
