À l'intérieur (AKA Inside):

I was fortunate to see a screening of Inside at Fangoria's Weekend of Horrors back in January of this year, and I was blown away by this film. Before the screening at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, there was a warning or disclaimer of sorts that this movie was seriously disturbing. I thought...pah, I am a horror movie fan, and I am sure that I have seen worse. Let me preface this review by stating that I WAS WRONG!

Directed by French duo and newcomers, Alexander Bustillo and Julien Maury, Inside is one of the most beautifully intense films I have ever watched.

Everything about this film is gorgeous, which is a strange juxtoposition due to the extreme violent nature of the film. I would like to add that the score was haunting, yet non-intrusive and very effective. The special effects were top notch, the cinematography was stunning (Laurent Bares), and the lead actors (Beatrice Dalle, and Alysson Paradis) were off-the-hook. I have to admit that this film did "get-to-me" and invoked a very strong emotional response inside (no pun-intended .) I think the last time a film had this intense an effect with me and the entire theatre audience was during a screening of The Exorcist. During the climax of the film (no spoilers, don't worry) you could literally hear the breath of every audience member being sucked away. What a ride!

Inside is a near-perfect piece of art.

Warning: This film is not for the faint of heart.

Here is a brief synopsis of the film:

Still grieving over her recently deceased boyfriend, a pregnant woman becomes haunted by a mysterious woman.

Here is the trailer:

Sounds like a good one. Any information on release?  Theatrical, DVD?

This one only had a limited theatrical release in the states. It is a french film, and ran some festival circuits. It is currently out on DVD. I recommend getting the unrated/uncut release, as I hear any other versions are way way edited. I hope this helps!

Yeahh! A great gore french flick, and even more, it's really scary. As a french horror aficionado I'm proud of this kind of film, because it keeps it's french identity and still is enjoyable for horror buffs around the globe, with it's simple storyline and good acting and effects. One of the filmakers used to write for a horror mag:Mad Movies (french fangoria, even better), so he knows his stuff. And yes seek the unedited édition, it's way better. If you want nice french horror, few titles worth the price, and I will not talk about the great horror classic "eyes without a face".

Frontier(s), Baby blood, Calvaire(the ordeal), Haute tension (high tension/switchblade romance) and coming soon "Eden Log" and "Mutants"
