note: The following is all prefaced with "in my opinion!"

The button menu down the left side of BHM's pages is too intimidating and user-unfriendly. For one thing, there are too many buttons. Not too many buttons overall, but too many buttons for one menu. I get to about the third one before I stop wanting to read any more. You'd be much better off breaking them into smaller groups, and giving each group a header or a title of some kind.

Second: they're too hard to read. Plus, they're ugly. Red on gray wasn't a great choice. White, red, and black is the color scheme of the page, so you ought to stick with some readable combination of those colors. I think white on blood red would be your best bet. But if you have to stick with gray buttons for some reason, at least change the text to white so I can read them without my eyes crossing.

Again, this is all just my opinion. Other people may love them the way they are (although I can't imagine why they would...)

That is a very good suggestion.  I've played with different formats and none of them worked for me so far. It's an interesting balance to find because on one hand there is the user experience, which is paramount... and on the other hand is the search engine friendliness which is how most folks find the site in the first place.

I will try a few ideas and ask for some feedback from you all.

I just wanted to comment on the "search engine friendliness". That's how I found the site. I was just looking for new horror movies to add to my agenda and decided too look up best horror on Google, and this was the first site that came up. I didn't even look at other sites.

I also want to comment and say that I'm sad that when I post a reply and spell words wrong I can't right click and select the right spelling. This has really bummed me out and brought to my attention what a bad speller I am.

I think we're all glad that the site came up on your Google search Molly!  I know I am...

Regarding the right click, I'm not sure why that doesn't work correctly.  I use firefox and I get the red underline for a misspelled word but my right click doesn't work in the forums either.  I am looking into that.

I haven't made the permanent changes to the site navbar yet because I am working on a new graphic with Kev Toxic for that - but I have made an interim change.

The gray that you're talking about doesn't look look on my computer the same as it does on some others... on mine it isn't gray but black. I look at it and think "not perfect, but looks fine". I pulled up the site on a friends computer and it was gray and hazy and looked terrible. I feel like Oprah when she went for some of her wild hair-dos in the 90s - and nobody told me!

Anyway, let me know if the temporary fix is any better - and if not then I'll continue tweaking it until it's readable and less ugly.
