Best Quote In The Ossuary
- Message
Well lets see....theres a MadMolly quote from the "is it just me?" thread that sums up a bunch of others: "On another note I think older horror is better because they slipped in nudity. You know those moments where you thought for a second that things were gonna get good. What happened to those? Where's the nip?" WHY: Perfectly illustrates one of the best running bits from many threads.
There's yours from the same thread: "Michael coming at me with a butcher knife and a woody! Run . . run like hell!!"
WHY: Just read it. It's damn funny. lol....just like your GWAR quote in the RockN'Shock thread "out comes the giant penis and the battle axes and the blood a flyin-- and I'm like holy shit"
Pastor of Muppets had the instant classic from the looks of confusion thread: "I just pull out my chainsaw and ask 'em which part they didn't get." WHY: Short, simple, and a damn good answer.
Horror Czar from the Camping thread: "I told a friend that was going camping with his girlfriend that the area that he was visiting was the same place that an ax-murderer and his shallow graveyard of victims were just found - that I just saw it on CNN. He was mad." WHY: Because I would SOOOO do that.
There are many pieces of a certain post by Freaky in the cell phones thread I could use, but I'm gonna go with "She was out on the deck in her bra and panties at 8 am moaning and groaning like an animal dying." WHY: It paints such a beautiful image with words. lol. Its almost poetic in a twisted and perverse way. (Thats a compliment, I think....
)
And there was Attrage's classic "I dont know about you but i always try and spare a thought for girls in panties..." from the morons who take movies too seriously thread WHY: A) it's funny, and B) it actually kinda inadvertently fits well with the previous quote. lol.
Molly's
"Mostly I'm disappointed by the lack of full frontal nudity. " from the same "Is It Me" topic
That's the quote to use in any social situation when someone asks "Are you having a good time?"
Thanks Molly
Great post - I've got a couple of favorites...
Mad Molly, talking about a weapon she keeps in her closet: "...its actually three railroad spikes wired together and covered with electrical tape. Now that will leave a bruise or you know crush your skull with one swing...very versatile."
FreakyCreepieChic with her now-famous: "I saw her doing the finger poke to herself"
Attrage: "The female body is a work of art. The male body is utilitarian, it's for getting around, it's like a Jeep!"
ZombieMaster: "It would appear that Hollywood will not stop until they have completely defaced and dishonored every classic film in their library."
Pumpboy: "Well I don't trust the Aliens flying around in their little Quisp ships anal-probing poor Mississippi fishermen and New England cat ladies."
There are so many more...
Nan's
"Pumpboy, As you know, I agree with you"
From the "what Is Horror" thread
Why: Because it shows, taste, class, and intelligence
and from the same post, her line:
"I like to be scared...not disgusted or completely uncomfortable, but good, old-fashioned creeped out."
Why: Because it is a great expression of what I think of when I think of Horror.
Sorry for double post (kinda)
"Every morning when i clean my teeth and i go to spit i look into the drain hole and half expect to see a demented clown face staring up at me!"
from Tails of The Dead in the Clown Phobia Thread
"I don't understand how anyone can find clowns cute and sweet...hello they EAT people, for crying out loud!"
by "this is Halloween." in the same thread
WHY: because I love Clowns and think the to contibutors above were eaten by them. and below, because I think he did it.
and again, from the clown phobia thread, Attrage's "I'm a sweet little innocent, I like to frolic in fields of wildflowers"
My favorite so far...
Pumpboy from the "Presidential Race 2008" forum:
"For the record: politically I am a moderate Libertarian with liberal anarchistic leanings and religiously I am a liberal Quaker with naturalistic pagan philosophies."
Why?: I truly enjoy a good wordsmith.
Cryp's "And now I return this thread to its horror-y-ness." from the PG-13 Horror Movies thread.
WHY: because at one time or another -- most threads probably need that posted and I admit to being an offender.
From the Worst Adaptation thread, Cryp's, "It's a ludicrous ludicrous movie." and Lestat's, "DAMN THE MOVIE, DAMN THE MOVIE!"
WHY: This is a movie site and we've all shared those sentiments. And the frustration they express.
From Lestat in the What got you into Horror thread: "ZOMBIES ROCK YEAH!!!!"
WHY: because they do
And from the same thread, Czar's "Something about horror and Sci-Fi horror was always much more appealing than other film genres... maybe it was an assurance that folks wouldn't suddenly stop what they were doing and break into song..."
WHY: because we all need that assurance
Okay there are plenty but I havent been on the boards in a while so I'm busy checking out all the new posts...anyway here's a few to get me started on THIS thread...
From the Idiots with cellphones in theatres thread:
Pumpboy's "uh . . . I smoked a tick" just because of it's inherent weirdness
Crypticpsych's "I took some friends into the LAUNDRY ROOM once to show them Airplane!" from the Morons who take movies too seriously" thread, again, because the thought of a bunch of people sitting in a laundry room watching Airplane! just cracks me up for some strange reason
From the same thread, FreakyCreepieChic's "I love to put myself in the killers place and pretend that I am hacking up the person who cut me off on the way home!" because that sums up my idealogy perfectly, and also from Freaky from the Idiots with cellphones thread: "I hate to mess up a good release"...LMAO
There's a few in the "Why Do We Love Horror Movies" thread:
Czar's, "I think that if one were to add Freddy Krueger to the mix "When Harry Met Sally" would have been much more enjoyable."
WHY: Damn sure couldn't hurt
and from Czar's same post: "Zombies ripping a man in half and feasting on his intestines? That's ok."
WHY: of course it is.
Peltablo's, "There's just something about watching a good horror movie that makes that humongous mortgage payment just a bit more bearable." from the same thread
WHY: again, Damn sure couldn't hurt
From the same thread, Freaky's, " I guess I am a living Zombie because the brain to me is wonderful"
WHY: because I like brains too.
and Freaky's, "My uncle has some big hogs(wonder if they are hungry)."
WHY: Great pick-up line!
and Czar's, Is there a darker part of us that secretly wonders what it would be like to slice someone
with a machete? Not that I'd ever admit anything like that in public.... "
WHY: of course not.. We don't need to answer that one.
and Lestat's, "i also love blood and gore, after a whole day of work there's nothing more relaxing than seing someone dumber than you get a machete on his face, or get your hunger burst when you see a lovely child zombie eat someone's face off."
WHY:beats the sauna
and Molly's, "However, humans are usually bad people, but oh well don't be sad."
WHY: Molly speaks Clown
Very--very good Thread
Hey Pumpboy, just to point out, those two quotes you attributed to me there from the why do we love horror movies thread were Horror Czar's. Just wanted to give credit where credit was due.
oops--sorry
-- will edit
From preferred weapons
Pumpboy: and without being sexist, an icepick for the ladies. (for those close quiet moments)
Why? because it scares me
From Idiots with cell phones
Czar: OMG!! Not the FINGER POKE!!
Why? no explanation needed
from the same thread
Czar: P*ris H*lton? We are going to be shut down by Tipper Gore for sure...
I liked Unscareable's "How can anything with evil dead in it be a bad thing?" from the Evil Dead thread.
And just to go all meta on you, pumpboy's "What are the best quotes and why (three sentence maximum per quote)" is a classic.
Ok. Not really. I'm just being stupid. For no good reason.
Why do I do that? And, um, why am I asking youl?
Anyway, I did really like Molly's "Mostly I'm disappointed by the lack of full frontal nudity," but since I didn't read it in the original thread and just saw it here, I can hardly claim it, can I? Except this is all so recursive and meta and postmodern and stuff I can't resist. It's like Scream: The Thread or something. So a big thumbs up for Mol!
Er, you'll have to excuse me now. There's a van full of men in white coats pulling up in my driveway...
Er, you'll have to excuse me now. There's a van full of men in white coats pulling up in my driveway...
There's a winner right there. lol.
Horrorshowpony's "Pity about the sequels" from the Not So Bad Horror Film Rip-Offs thread
because that statement is quite often very true.
"Fuck em. It's a good movie" from Attrage from the rewatching 1970s Horror thread.
Because we all feel this way about our favorite movies.
"I live in the geographical equivalent of a doctor's waiting room."
-Attrage in the Fear Fest Thread from the conventions forum.
Because that's just a brilliant freaking metaphor.
I don't know about best quotes...but I'm giving the best picture nod to carnivalcorpse! I cant seem to insert it here (the pic that is)...but you know which one I mean...kudos carnivalcorpse!
I've got a new favourite:
From the Greatest Non Horror Movies thread, by Pumpboy:
"It's a drama, comedy, buddy flick, true story, with some disturbing scenes of violence and murder. I can watch it again and again."
ROFL
