In ANOTHER countdown for the holiday on their site, EW counts down their picks for the best zombie movies.  Discussion time:

25) Planet Terror (2007)

24) Diary of the Dead (2007)

23) Land of the Dead (2005)

22) Zombie (1979)

21) Night of the Living Dead (1990)

20) Resident Evil: Extinction (2007) (Wow.  I liked the movie a hell of a lot...but wow.)

19) Pontypool (2009)  (FUCKIN' A)

18) Braindead/Dead Alive (1992) (nice of you guys to leave out the "respectable" part this time)

17) "Homecoming" (2005) (*gets out umbrella for inevitable shitstorm*)

16) Dead Snow (2009) (Also FUCKIN' A)

15) I Walked with a Zombie (1943)

14) Undead (2003)

13) The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988)

12) Dead Set (2008) (interesting)

11) The Omega Man (1971) (I find it hilarious this makes this list....AND Rotten Tomatoes' 25 best reviewed vampire movies of all time)

10) Return of the Living Dead (1985)

9) Re-Animator (1985)

8) Day of the Dead (1985)

7) Cemetary Man (1994)

6) [REC] (2007)

5) Night of the Living Dead (1968)

4) Dawn of the Dead (1979) (Interesting...they're fresh out of Romero films now...)

3) Shaun of the Dead (2004)

2) 28 Days Later (2002) (First line says they know they aren't zombies.....lol)

1) Dawn of the Dead (2004) (Oh that should get some interesting responses....)

Where's Zombiemaster to correct this list.

I was under the impression that REC and 28days' zombie status are in question.

You would be correct Grant, specially considering the blurb on 28 Days Later specifically mentions that fact.

BTW I appreciate your list postings. While we all take our issues with them, they do make for fun reading.

OK. I have read the list several times and this is the first time that my head has not exploded so I will try to be quick.

1. 28 Days Later, REC and The Omega Man (For the last time, I Am Legend is not about zombies.) do not even belong on this list.

2. The wrong Dawn is #1. The 2004 version was really good and should be in the list but not in the #1 spot.

3. Top 5 should be Dawn (1979), NOTLD (1968), Zombie, ROTLD, and Dead Alive.

4. Undead? Top 25? Really?

5. You can read my review to know my feelings about Homecoming.

6. Where are the other Fulci films?

There are other problems but these are the most glaring to me. I can feel the blood vessels in my forehead pulsing so I had better quit before I have to pick up the pieces again.

That was exactly the kind of response I was hoping for.  I should mention, while I said "fucking A" to two of them, It was more in a capacity of "holy shit, someone recognized this movie existed" than a "Pontypool is better than Planet Terror" mentality (hint, it most certainly isn't.)
