I want to know how they are going to pull off the tree sex scene with woman in the woods? I hated Evil Dead. I loved Army of Darkness because when I saw it at the theater there were people dressed up and fighting in the ales. There was a show outside in the parking lot when the movie was over. We have a guild here that dresses in armour and joust. The show was great so was the movie.

Hated Evil Dead?? *Gasp*

Well, at least you like Army of Darkness... which I actually didn't like as much as Evil Dead. Still, we can be friends... ;)

Christ!  you scared me, Horror Czar!  I log in and see comment from the Horror Czar "I hated Evil Dead"....whoa... lol.  Now then:

Evil Dead: The Musical

Hehe.....bootlegs are coooooooool.  :-)  Though that Chicago thing is really stupid.  The Montreal one is close to what I saw but theyd added a few new good songs by the time I saw it.

I saw the musical during its run in New York City in 2007...February I think.  It is fantastic.  Tongue is firmly in cheek throughout.  It pays respect to the movie while making fun of it, so you get moments like Ash commenting on the difference between his character in the first act and the second act (Since the second act, primarily, is Evil Dead 2) or them commenting on the weirdness of the mirror necklace turning Ash back.  My favorite joke had to be during the song "Good Old Reliable Jake" where they had put a large blue square spotlight up in the corner of the curtain with a yellow spotlight in the middle that started moving around the stage during the song with the "moon" rolling back and forth inside.  I'll leave the thing they're referencing to you guys.  The moment the light came on, the crowd cheered at it.

As I just said, Evil Dead is Act 1, Evil Dead 2 is Act 2, and Army of Darkness is mentioned offhand at the very tail end (at least in the one I saw).  The really awesome thing though, is that in NYC, they had this BRILLIANT idea...they took the seating and they divided off the stuff right around the stage.  Then they gave special white shirts and ponchos if people so desired to those seated in "The Splatter Zone".  Thus, in the second act when Ash battles the deadites, they have a habit of heading over to the edge of the stage and pouring blood out onto the audience.  Plus there are fantastic souvenirs.  I bought "The Evil Dead Companion" there, they also had all of Bruce Campbell's books and the souvenir shirts (I got the one of the show's poster, but they also had one with just the name and the hand giving the finger and another for women that, from the song of the same name, said "All the Men in My Life Keep Getting Killed By Candarian Demons".

The soundtrack is available through Time-Life, and you can find it on amazon or at stores (I've seen it in Best Buy).  If you'd like a taste, on my profile I've got...uhhhh....*checks*...."Join Us" and "Look Who's Evil Now" in the playlist.  You'll have to scroll a touch.  I can switch some in and out if people like.

And to answer Creepiechic's question, what you do is, you have one of the cast members ghostly yell "join us", convincing Cheryl to head out into the woods.  Out in the "woods" you have a bunch of the actors in tree outfits who proceed to attack right after she says "all I see are these trees".  She then runs screaming around the stage while they attack her yelling random interesting funny things like "That is so inappropriate".  Then the tree's basically envelope her, stage goes dark, we go back to the cabin, she arrives and proceeds to sing "It Won't Let Us Leave."  A very tasteful way of doing it, if I may say so.

YES!  Sorry to post again without someone replying first, but I just saw that someone finally reuploaded to youtube a previously deleted video of a live performance of "Do The Necronomicon" from Halloween 2006....on The View.  So if you can put with a couple seconds of Rosie O'Donnell, the performance comes right after:  link

I'm a little worried about the Rosie factor but... I'll check it out.

Oh, and sorry for the heart-stopper about hating Evil Dead... In fact, I love that one and was put on movie probation by some non-horror fan friends for bringing it to the weekly movie round-up. No matter... I can watch that one over and over.

There are other videos I could post..but...um....see, all the videos almost on youtube are of the production in seoul now.  You know....South Korea.  So no one would understand.  These are the best English ones I could do.

Vid 1 Ignore the korean photo and let it load a bit and after the montage set to "Cabin in the Woods", most of "Housewares Employee" is in this after 1:30.

Vid 2 About 1 minute of "What the @%$# Was That".

Vid 3 About 1 minute of "All the Men in My Life Keep Getting Killed By Candarian Demons".

And that's all I got.  All I know is, since I got it this past March, I've seen it at every convention I've been to at bootleg tables.  And, like I said, I can post more songs if people like such as "Good Old Reliable Jake".

Yeah, um those are all the halfway decent vids.  what ive posted thus far.  The rest are fan vids that are like pics with the music over them, and these are only good if you can see the show.  The korean videos have the show, but again, unless someone here actually speaks Korean, theres no real point.

But I've got the whole soundtrack and I'll post that after I get out of work today at 1ish.

Okay done.  I uploaded every song onto the music page and a bit of the dialogue.  Boomstick's been giving me issues though, so if it doesnt work, lemme know.  If you wanna find em easily, search the tag "Evildeadthemusical".

That is awesome man - thanks!

On a related note, I just finished a search function for videos and I will soon implement the same for both music and pics... we can search on tags but also on any text in the description or title.... stay tuned.

The musical's already come out, is currently in canada with subsidiary groups performing it in california and south korea, and opened to rave reviews everywhere it has been, particularly the original in Canada and the off-broadway version that I saw (with the same Ash as that show).  The ladies of The Evil Dead have all appeared at shows for Q&A afterwards and Bruce Campbell is quoted on the back of the cd soundtrack talking about how much he loved the show.  They also sell his books and books on the history of the franchise at the show (The Evil Dead Companion, I bought a copy.)  You may not like it, that is your prerogative and I would not try to change that, I'm just clarifying that its already been released, is playing right now in various places, and has the blessing of much of the cast of the original movie.  It is, THANKFULLY, not something that rapes the memory of the films, in essence.  If it were, I would condemn it to within an inch of its life.

And while I look forward to the new movie too, I want someone to stop making remakes as soon as possible because I envision a time in the unfortunately too near future where the less educated, non-horror freaks, forget the originals and focus on the possibly inferior reimaginings of the classics, thus depriving future generations of iconic, landmark films of the genre.  Point of fact, on IMDB, the only link to the original is that Raimi is writing it and producing it and bruce is producing.  Raimi's not directing, point of fact he's actually looking for a director.  An Ash has not been named nor will there possibly even BE an Ash (so sayeth the FAQ section, claiming that Raimi realizes that Ash has such a huge fan base that only one man can play him, thus leading Raimi to cut that aspect all together).  Technically, if that FAQ is believed, this is actually more a remake of his original movie Within the Woods which led to Evil Dead and was, if I remember the section in the companion correctly, far more serious.  There are also, ironically, rumors that the musical will be adapted into a movie much like Sweeney Todd was.  It is not known at this time if that is the case.  Hell, half the movie is just rumors since there's no director, no casting done, etc.

IMDB for more info.
