This is probably something a lot of you know about. This movie looks pretty twisted. It really falls more into the suspense category.  I haven't seen that movie 'The  Strangers' yet but this looks like it would be a more hardcore version.

Here's the trailer: http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi3886547225/

That's a good trailer... but I sure hope that those dudes get messed up painfully because it's extremely easy to wish death upon them...

Those kids remind me of the gang in clockwork orange. I always knew there was a reason I am afraid of men in polos.

Funny Games U.S. Is a good flick... But, It's a remake of a 1997 film by the same name... If your going to see this film, just watch the U.S. remake... It is a shot for shot remake! down to the dialog...

I don't mean this in a bad way, btw, but i'm just surprised no one else had heard of this before.  I wanted to see it when it was in limited release, but no theater anywhere near me was playing it.  Still haven't seen it unfortunately.  The TV ads were great.  It came out on dvd tuesday if anyone's curious.

I watched Funny Games last night and was extremely disappointed.  I read all the accolades on the box "Scariest movie, profoundly disturbing, superb acting", etc. and was expecting at least something halfway decent.  I hated it. It was actually quite annoying...almost a murderous version the movie "sideways" with inane dialogue, a ridiculous premise and very unlikeable characters.

It was so annoying and painful to watch, I took a short catnap during it and woke up for the ending.  What a disappointment.

I'm going to watch "Otis" tonight.  I think that one should be good!!

I'm definitely a horror "cynic", having grown up with some of the greatest horror films ever....Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist, Night of the Living Dead, etc., so I was skeptical, but hopeful for Funny Games.  It didn't scare me one little bit.  I give it a 0 out of 5.

I agree with you Nan.  Funny Games is a "meanness" movie but not really scary.  Just a couple guys that need someone like Sigourney Weaver to kick their ass.

I rented Otis last night -- will watch over the weekend.

Hi Pumpboy...I just posted a reply but I don't see it, so I'll write again.

Yeah, Sigourney could kick their asses.  I couldn't stand watching that punk with the girly-man hair-cut.  I was annoyed within the first 15 minutes.

Can't wait to watch Otis.  I love Ileanna Douglas (not sure if I spelled that right).

Waiting for The Reincarnation of Peter Proud to come in the mail; haven't seen that one in 20 years.

Take care, have a great weekend and I guess we'll have to report in after watching Otis.  I have high hopes!!

The Reincarnation of Peter Proud!!!

Damn Nan!   I hadn't even THOUGHT of that movie in years--Chris Sarandan right??  Tell me how it holds up.

Didn't Chris Sarandan play Frankenstein in one of the older versions??  Whatever happened to him?

For some reason now I'm thinking of "Altered States"  with William Hurt  another great movie -- late seventies early eighties I think.  Have you seen that one?

Yeah -- we'll compare notes on OTIS.

Have a great weekend bloody girl

Hi; for some reason when I post a reply today I have to do it twice...the first one didn't take so here goes again.

The cast of Peter Proud is Michael Sarrazin, Jennifer O'Neill and Margot Kidder...you were close!  I also ordered the book; I had a copy for years and lost it.  I loved Altered States too.

Have you seen "Let's Scare Jessica to Death?"  That movie has stuck with me since I first saw it in the early 80's.  I have an old copy on VHS, but I think it's available on DVD now; Netflix may even have it.

Have you tried half.com for movies?  That's the cheapest place I've found...it's a subsidiary of eBay but you don't bid; you just choose which copy you want, new or used...and that's it.  The shipping is low too.

Hope this post works...I've been typing stuff twice all morning!!  Have fun watching Otis!!

Well Nan, we know if it's worth doing once, it's worth doing twice.

Anyway -- Sarrazin!! Yeah -- I had forgotten him too -- what's he been up to.

I loved all the movies you've rattled off -- did you see "The Other" ? -- wasn't that great?-- one of my favorite older films of the genre.

I will check out the dvd site. Thanks.

And yes I did see Let's Scare Jessica to Death and loved it.

Now get back to work -- we're watching you.

Okay, okay, I'm trying to work, but my heart isn't in it today....

Yes, the Other...Niles and Holland, the "twins?"  I loved it!  My friend that I grew up with and I still quote that movie!!

I know this is shot-by-shot of the original.... is there any point in seeing it if I have seen the original?
