....so, I visited the Hot Topic clearance sale online...and I found THE BEST dress for a vampire costume this year marked down to $16.00!!  I just checked the site and they bumped it up to $33.98; guess I got lucky.

I can't wait to get; already thinking about make up and a wig...3 more months to go!

Halloween here sucks...back in Baltimore they close the streets and there are thousands of folks in fabulous costumes.  Out here, it's a boring ass party at a hippie place where everyone brings their little kids....

I have to change that!

I like Halloween because every channel shows good movies on tv.  Never get costume party invites anymore though.  I've got good college stories though.  Senior year I went around campus all day as Ghostface from Scream.  Unintentionally, I ended up having to give a presentation on the Three Mile Island Nuclear Accident like that.  Teacher introduced me as "Death to Nature" and I ended up using my knife as a pointer.  Junior year was my personal best costume moment though:

Bonus points if you know what obscure horror reference I was going for.....Quick, easy and all I needed to buy was the walking stick.

Dunno what I'm doing this year.  I'm still in the apartment so I'm not decorating.  If I was in a house or a condo, I'd buy one of the Halloween villages like they have for christmas.

"Give me what I want and I'll go away"

Great movie Cryp.

I hate it when people don't get to celebrate Halloween properly.   Cryp, Freaky, Molly -- any other east coasters --If you're down the Virginia way on 10/25 --my party!!  (trust me -- the place to be in Richmond every year on the last Saturday before Halloween) or on Halloween night itself  we will show you Halloween honored the way it should be.  And costumes are mandatory.  Folks who show up without costumes are considered victims and they never make that mistake again.  So consider this your official costume party invite.   Feel free to bring a friend -- one body doesn't usually contain enough blood.  Send me a personal e-mail around October and I'll give you my cell number.

And Nan if you need any help with tips on scaring the sh*t out of those Coloradans with a real Halloween extravaganza --I'd be glad to make suggestions.

Example:  for perhaps the easiest yet still effective prop, paint over the eyes of dolls so that they are solid white -- creeps people out bigtime.  And for an extra bonus, If you use the right paint- it glows purple under blacklite.  My dolls are alot more elaborate, but the white eyes is the quickest and easiest.  Now let's talk about clowns . . . .

Halloween! I love it! I love the smell in the air, the sometimes chill you get on that day depending on the weather. Halloween I wished it lasted longer. I can be myself and no one knows it is the true me. Tennessee well the part I live in kids don't go door to door much, we have haunted mazes, haunted hay fields, haunted barns and haunted Church parking lots. The Mall has stores that give out candy and prizes for costumes. I love Halloween!!!!!!!!!!Wink

Funny you should mention haunted Church parking lots, etc.  When I was way younger and living in Louisiana (moved away 8 years ago), my cousin got me a part working at a haunted house underneath the local minor league baseball stadium.  While there was plenty of good stuff, we had the pitchdark maze.  They gave us flashlights and glow in the dark masks to go with all black clothing and we'd wait for the chainsaw maniac to chase them our way.  The room was connected to a black and white room that could give people seizures that had alcoves we could jump out of.  But the maze was the best.  I did three particularly cool things.  A few times I led people in circles for a while just to mess with them.  Once, I face the wall so that no one could see me and hid my mask and listened to them scream when their hands bumped into me.  But the best had to be I stood against the wall, stone still, in the glowing mask.  I didn't say anything, I just stood there.  It was pitch dark, so for all intents and purposes it looked like a glow in the dark mask on a wall.  So they're like, oh, that's nice....then I started silently slowly walking toward them....now THAT was a good scream.

We have a crazy amount of Halloween haunted houses / hayrides here. They even have one in 3-d yea a 3-d haunted house it was weird. Actually I went to one last year .. it was ok

Some the rooms were just like...confusing like there was on where this chick in a prom dress would scream loud whenever people walked in ...that was just weird and another room with a girl in a glass tank and when you walked in she threw herself against the sides of her glass cage and blood squirted out the sides at you. Some people I was with didn't get it but I thought it was great. I remember another haunted house there and the last room was made up to look like a shitty bathroom literally. I'm not sure what they were going for there.

oh well I love Halloween

I haven't had a good costume lately I've been Jem (it was truly outrageous), cat woman,... but I have high hopes for this dino thing. I wanna make it so the tail wraps around and can hold my beer.

I'm not good with maps but if i can find virginia i'll be there haha

I really love the Halloween time, mostly since I started working on this houses design! Right now I'm working on two different houses at the same time... The first one I started working with, will be located at the University in which I work and it will be fun (maybe just for me). I'm developing about twelve/full body characters based on traditional legends all over the country like the wailer (la llorona), some kind of she devils called Tzitzimime, an elemental demon called Dzulum, some kind of evil giants who stalked on the roads and kill with stone axes and knives whoever dares to walk on that roads by night, and some other guys. The interesting here is that this guys will be "living" inside a two floor house that is about 100 years old, fulled of creepy basements and strange small rooms (about 5 sq foot each) with 3 or four doors each one. The other one will de based on the old style freak shows made mostly in USA. Will be inhabited for about 20 actors who will be chasing and stalking for their victims... As soon as I can, I'll start posting pictures and drawings about this terrific job!

Please do!  That sounds awesome!

Oh, and side thought I just had.  I was in Target last year like the week before Halloween, and was really annoyed that they'd already put out christmas stuff.  Really?  You can't wait like 7 days?

I can stomach it....but that candy corn soda is an abomination and the Lemon Drop Dead started off good when they first introduced it but then they just made it brain-bleedingly sour.

 . . . in the night.

do any of you folks do any haunting? At Halloween time do you decorate or fix up your yard or throw a party or still trick or treat , dress up or just how do you celebrate Halloween?  It's creepy central all year long at my place but this time of year we really shine.

I wish I could make my apartment creepy central or really decorate at all.  Thats why I want a house really.  I want to get a halloween village and decorate for halloween.  Christmas too...but halloween really.  As it is all I have is this severed head I hang on the doorknob that I got years ago and the various posters in my room.  Also, I'd dress up, but last year my friends were still in college while I was out here and now more have graduated.  Some find costume parties.  Either way last year I discovered the benefits of Halloween night candy deals at Target.  lol.

How do you shine?  I'd love to hear your rocking decoration scheme.

the inside of the house is webbed of course--body parts floating in the shower in black cherry kool-aid  (great blood color if you make it strong--but stains clothing)--shower curtain with blood streaks and handprints.  They'll be a tape in the cabinet under the bathroom sink that plays animal sounds like squealing pigs and snarling dogs, etc.  coiled snakes around the toilet and some creepy backwards writing on the mirror-- I allow a little light in the bathroom, but not much--either a flicker bulb or a low wattage one.--that's the john.  I also have a nursery with corpsified and demonic toys.

I could go on and on with the decorating that I do-- I have so much halloween paraphenalia that I usually don't end up even using it all. --the best stuff is outside-- I''ll share some more later , --I've got a bad-ass crank ghost this year for the newer graveyard--I'm building a new crypt for it.  Also working on a huge skeleton / ghost puppet with a very long reach--he's gonna be fun.  I still have a very decrepit looking mummy that I made the first year I did it.  I have a life-size Jason that hangs out in the camping area and a Myers that likes to peek through windows.  I usually move my best clown around alot --just to catch folks off guard.  I move the big screen outside and play horror movies and trailer compilations all night.  A very nice spider section--an older wooden cross graveyard and a newer foam tombstone one(I carved most of the stones the first year-- I add new stuff every year.We have a haunted trail section and I won't be giving away those secrets until after the party just in case one of you decides to come. I use strobe lights in different locations and have fog everywhere.  Most of the light is tiki torches except for things I want highlighted--so there are some very creepy dark areas

As soon as I finish my Halloween flick, I'll take some photos of some of my stuff and get some hard copies from prior years scanned to post.  This is my first year with a digital camera--I know behind the times--sure is fun though.
