What are everyone's plans for Halloween?

I will pass out candy, then take my kiddos trick or treating, and hopefully visit a haunted house. Afterwards I will probably buy a bunch of beer and watch horror movies all night.

Everything except for the kids, passing out candy and haunted house part.

I'll either be fishing for Salmon depending on the condition of the local rivers, or hunting. Just not much of a Halloween person.

I'll be at a live production of "An American Werewolf in London" in Freeport, Maine.

Eric Anderson (my FX artist from "The Wrong House") and his crew at The Shoggoth Assembly are handling the FX for the transformation.

Extremely ambitious project that should be a whole lot of fun. The director is Tim Ryan, who I worked with on The 48 Film Project last month.

I can't wait for this one.

Congratulations AngelwitchLaughing   Be sure to post pictures....

Nobody else 'celebrates' Halloween' where I live.  They have such a fear/hatred of it, I wonder if I live in an English backwater that will never change.  For the last 8 years I've made up bags of sweets to give to children, but mostly got vists from 16 year olds asking for money instead.  This year I'm going to be daring and have a window display (based on pumpboy's suggestions of pumpkins and Michael Myer masks with glow sticks).  Hopefully this will bring families to my door.

Great topic Bloody One.

Thanks for the shoutout Art.

Richmond has become a nice place to celebrate Halloween. We still don't have the number of haunted attractions as a Texas or California,  Michigan or Illinois, or even St. Louis.  Then there's Salem, where the whole town transforms for a week or so.  But we do have a few unique distinctions to boast of.

A shout out goes to the great folks of Blood Lake (formerly Creepy Hollow) our resident haunted attraction, which starts with a hayride through haunted woods (and trust me--you are not even safe in the hay-wagon) which then drops you off at a large house to explore, which seems to be a cross between a haunted house and a butcher shop, and then you get to walk back through haunted woods.  These folks do a great job and turn out a wonderful haunt year after year.  In the weeks leading up to the seasonal opening, their zombie squads can be spotted all over town promoting the haunt.

Hanover Ave in the historic fan section turns into a half-mile long outdoor celebration where they come very close to 100% participation from the residents on both sides of the street.  These folks decorate to the nines, with their houses transformed into everything from Pirate's ships to Mummy's tombs.  This place is wall-to-wall trick-or-treaters on Halloween night as kids come from all over the area to canvas this street for treats.

Then there is my old stomping grounds, Oregon Hill, immortalized in the Cowboy Junkies' song.  Not only is it home to Hollywood Cemetery, the largest place of Confederate dead in the nation--one mass grave contains 18,000 bodies--also houses the remains of JEB Stuart, John Tyler, James Monroe, Jefferson Davis, George Pickett, and even Richmond's own vampire--and others.  Oregon hill i also host to the annual Halloween Parade complete with giant stilt monsters, marching bands dressed as zombies, skeletons, etc, homemade floats, Chineses dragon type creatures--it's a one of a kind experience.

Both our theme parks, Kings Dominion(Fear Fest) and Busch Gardens (Hall-o-Scream) go all out for the holiday with Haunted rides, houses, mazes and great staff participation, while not up to par with Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights or Knott's Scary Farm--still do a bang-up job.

I know the question was how I am going to celebrate, but I take alot of pride in my city and the way they try to do Halloween right, so I wanted to give them props.  I will be attending most of these events anyway--so I guess it does count towards my celebrating.

Personally, I host the most kick-ass halloween party this side of the James River every year the Saturday before Halloween--free foodand drink, horror movies and trailer reels shown continously outside, haunted trail, haunted campground, costume contests, graveyards, props galore, --I could go on, but have ranted about it many times in the past.  I'll usually have a smaller get together on Halloween night as well, after the parade and trick or treating.

Halloween has experenced a big boom in popularity over the last decade.  Sales-wise, it is only behind Christmas as far as holiday revenue generation.  It's refreshing to see in our increasingly PC world as our kids don't have the opportunities to celebrate the holiday in schools anymore like we did as a kid.  The increasing popularity among adults trying to recapture those Halloween moments from the past are a big reason for the boom.  Speaking only for myself, I feel that the attraction is that it's the one holiday that adults are truly able to be kids again--even if just for one or two magical nights.

I'm considering it.  It's a hell of a long drive, so I'm not 100% sure.  But I am considering.

I know how that is. I live right next to a school, but no kids come around for Halloween. I was confused at first, until I went to the store on Halloween only to find that one street down is really bright and well lit.. my street looks like Dark City. Can't really blame the parents for not heading up our way.

Thus, I will be home, and probably just watching much twisted movies. Course, I'm the only person I know that really appreciates horror, so that does take some of the fun out of it.

Great plans for halloween, Angelwitch! Congratulations!

I'll be working (i hope) in a new haunted house project, with all the prosthetics, makeup, clothing, sfx and all that kind of stuff. The new designs are ready, and i'm waiting for the money to start working on them, and that's it! I'll start working by 5 a.m. and will be ending by 3 a.m. next day... i don't know for how many days.

Have you ever been the Knotts Scary Farm?  From what I've seen, it's one of the cat's meows.

Yep, this year I'm gonna get blisteringly drunk, climb the church tower and take potshots at trick or treaters. Then depending on how the police negotiator fares, I'll either be coming down quietly or going out in a final blaze of hot lead. (And don't worry. I'll post pics)

Thanks Everybody!!! Well probably just go home and hand out candy before heading out  on our honeymoon, We are making huge goody bags w/ toys and lots of candy we owe it to our neighborhood kids since we are not doing a haunted house this year.... (first time in 6 years) We got a pretty good sized cemetery started right now going to get some friends to dress like Zombies to do a little scaring so the kids wont miss out to much.

I'm so excited I love Halloween!

Night before we're hosting a 'hair metal' costume party complete with pumpkin carving contest. Then on Halloween, a few friends and I are dressin up as zombie strippers. Not quite sure what the actual plans are, but it's gonna be saweeet.

I was wishing we could join Attrage at the church tower Laughing

Well we wanted to head up to Austin to check out a couple of haunted houses and watch the freaks on 6th street followed by a viewing of  Rocky Horror , but me and the wife took in my 15 year old niece a few months back so THAT is a no go. So now we are going to pass out candy to the kiddos , drink ALOT of Sailor Jerry's spiced rum and then go to the bar. I am going as Leatherface this year and my wife will be an undead evil nurse. I might go help out at my nephews haunted house for a little while too. The Leatherface the have is like 5'4" and I stand 6'6", so I think I might be a little more intimidating.LOL. Anything I do will be fun though, I was lucky enough to marry a woman just a sick , twisted and morbid as myself so we are BOUND to have fun on Halloween! I swear it is better than Christmas New Years and Thanksgiving all rolled up into one!
