Did anyone like Hellboy 1? I don't really remember it, but I don't recall being particularly impressed. Is this even horror?  There's a trailer here. Based on the trailer there doesn't seem to be much horror... supernatural Die Hard as far as I can tell...

I loved Hell Boy 1.  Ron Perlman does best as a costumed actor. I mean really he is scary to look at without makeup. I loved the whole idea of the movie. Oh the baby Hell Boy was soooo cute....... I will love Hell Boy 2!

Early reviews seem to say Hellboy 2 is like more Fantasy Action rather than pure horror (it's Guillermo del Toro again, so that's not totally shocking).  I wouldnt know, but I do know I'm gonna see it when it first comes out and will prolly watch Hellboy for the first time within the next two weeks.

I fell in love with Selma Blair in Hellboy.  I haven't crushed on a movie girl like that since Magenta in Rocky Horror.  Well except maybe Weaver and Ingrid Pitt, but that's different.

Oh and Ron Perlman is superb in everything he does.  Anybody else here old enough to have watched his TV show "Beauty and The Beast" with Linda Hamilton.

As far as "is it horror" -- it's action/dark comedy/horror -- I thought the first one was very good.  Kinda like Van Helsing -- not scary horror, but fun horror.

del Toro:  I'm becoming fond of him.  I liked The Devil's Backbone and Mimic alot.  I was very impressed by Mimic. I thought Pan's Labyrinth and Cronos were uneven--some really good stuff mixed with some ehhhhh stuff.  I just watched the Orphanage the other night and really liked it.  Someone said after Hellboy 2, he is going to do Dr. Strange -- is that true?

I'll be the first to admit I didn't like Hellboy. That's right I said it. I don't remember a lot of it, but I basically thought is was boring and same old same old. However, I have high hopes for Hellboy 2 only because the demons look cool. I like fantasy/Sc-fi stuff I guess.

I liked the first one, but I'll probably wait until the sequel comes out on DVD before I see it.

I saw the original Hellboy at the theater and then again a couple of times on DVD. I never could figure out what the hell was going on. Each time I felt like I was watching the movie for the first time. After seeing Hellboy 2, that all changed. I went back and watched the original again, and it all made perfect sense and became highly enjoyable.

.

So, long story short: Hellboy 2 good. Hellboy 1 good after seeing Hellboy 2. Maybe they should switch the sequence and make Hellboy 1 the sequel...
