If you could destroy (make it cease to exist) one sequel from your favorite horror franchise, what would it be and why? For the most part, I like all of the Halloween sequels. Except Resurrection. Not only is it the worst Halloween sequel, but it's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The sad thing is that a lot of younger people have only seen Resurrection or Rob Zombie's version. I can't believe they had the nerve to kill Laurie Strode. What's the point in continuing the movie after that? I hope Jamie Lee Curtis was paid a ridiculously large salary for that. Also, Michael Myers is supposed to invulnerable, yet frickin' Busta Rhymes kicks his ass. What's up with that? Apparently Mike turned into a Ninja Turtle because he's been living in the sewers for 20 years. Michael Myers is not going to remain dormant, living off eating rats for 20 years. This whole movie was just awful. It has no redeeming qualities and every copy of it should be burnt.

If you could destory one sequel...

Personally, I'm more into Nightmare on Elm Street. And while I do LIKE all of them, I really think I could've done without "The Dream Child". Such a bizarre bizarre storyline.
Alien:Resurrection
Why? Because it sucked. To me it'll always be the "Alien Trilogy"..end of story.
um I liked the first from dusk til dawn but the others I could do without
wtf was blair witch 2?
I would destroy Hostel 1 and let Hostel 2 live.
oo ooo I second blair witch 2! That sucked...your completley right
I would destroy Hostel 1 and let Hostel 2 live.
While I havent watched Hostel 2 yet (but will VERY shortly), I really find this interesting. Why Pastor?

Well, I don't mean this in a smart-alecky way, but because I liked Hostel 2 and I didn't like Hostel 1. Literally. I thought Hostel 1 was just gratuitously vicious and had no redeeming value whatsoever, like a snuff film. Hostel 2, on the other hand, which I was fully prepared to hate with equal intensity, didn't strike me that way when I watched it. I rather enjoyed it. I'd have to go back and see it again to be more specific than that. Maybe I'll do that here in the next few days.
.
I'll be interested in hearing your opinion about it once you watch H2.
The Next Karate Kid! Woops! Wrong forum! LOL!!! I would have to say that I could do without Friday the 13th part 5 because it made Part 6 a reality. I only like the first 4 in that franchise any ways.
I would destroy Hostel 1 and let Hostel 2 live.
Kill both Hostels and kill the guy who vomited them into this world

Blasphemer! Ahh you either love him or you hate him I suppose. But back to the subject at hand, I would destroy Nightmare on Elm St part deux. The boy on boy action just doesn't work with freddy. He's a lady killer. Oh and the whole nightmare mythos was just totally f'd around on this one.

A) agreed on Eli Roth. Definitely love him or hate him.
B) I liked Nightmare 2. You kinda have to segregate it from the rest of the series though not to the same extent as Halloween 3. But I will say that you're missing a key component. While it might be "boy on boy", remember, the key component of the Freddy mythos, that a woman will defeat him, is still intact when the girl saves him from the possession.
i love the halloween series but i think halloween 3: seaon of the witch was absolutely pointless, i didnt even get it, was it not supposed to be a sequel that follows on?

Works like this: when John Carpenter originally made Halloween, his intent was that each year, a different story would occur that took place on Halloween night. However, when Rick Rosenthal chose to make Halloween II more about Michael Myers, he basically created a horror icon himself where there may not have been one. Thus, when they made 3 and tried to go back to that "different story" intent, no one got it and everyone expected Myers. Which is why, right after that, they immediately brought Myers right back for every other story.
I'd have to say "Alien 3" should have never been made...the effects were bad and once Sigourney Weaver was buzzed, I couldn't tell any of the characters apart. The death of Newt also screwed up "Aliens". A bad sequel is bad enough...but a sequel that ruins the story of the previous movie is even worse.
Also, I didn't like "Jason Takes Manhattan" in that franchise cuz there was potential there that was just wasted.
AVPR it was kind of dark you couldnt realy tell what was going on expesaly the fight scenes and it was stooped that there was only one predator through the whole movie

I was expecting someone to bring up this one. I had never heard of this explanation but it makes sense. I actually like Halloween 3 as a stand alone movie. Putting masks on and dying is some scary stuff!
I love the Nightmare on Elm Street series, just finished watching them all again this week in fact. The last in the series: Wes Cravens New Nightmare. This was a big flop in my opinion. I just didn't like how they Seperated Freddy from Englund in this one. Freddy was dark and seemingly more sinister. Bad story all in all.
Exorcist II: The Heretic was one of the biggest turds in history. Its only saving grace was that it effectively prevented The Exorcist from being cheapened by being turned into a franchise.
.
EDIT: What I mean is, sure, the studios kept trying, but no one really took the sequels seriously and they didn't end up tarnishing the first film's reputation the way, say, Friday the 13th's sequels did.
All but the first 3 friday the 13th's how many ways can you get the same result. teens go to the woods, teens have sex and get drunk, big boobed women runs in the wood falls (over what oh yeah her big boobs) hurts ankle and Jason who is walking behind ends up in front killing with everything but kitchen sink or does he use that too. Gosh, I'm glad somrone pulled the plug ?

Hey, hey, HEY!!!!! They varied it....Teens go into Manhattan....Teens go into space.....
I'm just kidding of course.
Lots of crappy sequels. I myself go with Alien 3. Why? It sucked. But more than just like a suckey movie. Because it followed 2 great films. It is the Horror/Sci-Fi equivalent to Superman III and all copies should be destroyed.

But...but...that's the circle of life!
Halloweens from #4 until H2O can dissapear. I liked H2O and #3 can stay as a stand alone.
Halloween I & II are what the Horror Gods watch on Halloween Night.
I take back what I said. I forgot about The Howling II.
both versions of the hills have eyes 2.
