This is very very hard for me to type. I've never actually physically cried when someone died before. Until this morning. I was lucky enough to see him perform live. This hits me particularly hard both because of the level of respect I have for the brilliant man and for the fact that I saw him literally 3 weeks ago. He may have virtually nothing to do with horror(He was in Scary Movie 3), but I don't care, I needed to post this. I don't know how I'm going to go to my job today, but I will. I'll probably listen to his comedy on my ipod all day. He will be missed.

R.I.P. George Carlin 1937-2008

The cruelist rick of getting older, Cryp, is not the fact that your mind and body is not quite as sharp and fast as it once was. It's not the fact that your knees don't like it when you move a certain way or even that you make your father's "uumph" noise sometimes when you stand up too fast.
The cruelist trick is watching those that you love die.
I grew up on George and Richard Pryor. I watched that first episode of SNL that he hosted. I remember the 7 dirty words well. Just think fondly of him everytime you say , "C*cksucker, or put in your Dogma DVD now and then (I know you own a copy-right?), and whenever you fire up a doobie, save the last toke for old George (Not that I'm condoning drug use in any form or function) -- That's the way he'd like it.
"Let me give you guys an update on the Comedian's Health Sweepstakes. As it stands right now, I lead Richard Pryor 2 to 1 in heart attacks and he leads me 1 to 0 in burning yourself up. You see, Richard had a heart attack- so I had a heart attack. Then Richard caught himself on fire and I said F*ck that!, so I had another heart attack"

You've caught up with Richard now in dying as well, George. He'll be glad to see you. -- Rest In Peace.

I own the special edition damnit. lol. If you're gonna own great religious commentary, go whole hog. I think theres even a bit more Carlin in the deleted scenes.
It's quite a bit different, but he was also in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. ("You're Doing it Wrong!")
And his version of "The Architect" in Scary Movie 3 may be one of the best Matrix Reloaded parodies I've ever seen.
Not to mention the books, and cds, and dvds. One of the things I am most thankful for now is that I got to buy his 2000 filthy words and phrases shirt at the show before this happened. I will wear it with pride.
And I see your quote and raise you another one:
"Bullshit, I'm getting old! And it's okay, because thanks to our fear of death in this country, I won't have to die...I'll pass away. Or I'll expire like a magazine subscription. If it happens in the hospital, they'll call it a terminal episode. The insurance company will refer to it as negative patient-care outcome. And if it's the result of malpractice, they'll say it was a therapeutic misadventure."
-George Carlin. (The color thing is cuz im using it as an aim away message....)

if you haven't seen this, you'll appreciate it. Lessons from Carlin with his comic hat off.

You got to see him in person, damn you are lucky. I thought the world of him because he told it like it was and didn't care who didn't like it. No one here will mind that you posted this sweetie. I am sure there are more here who liked him too. I wish I could give you a big hug.

Personally, I liked http://www.newsweek.com/id/142975
Kevin Smith eulogizes George Carlin. I personally like the part Carlin wanted Smith to write for him.
And you're right, that's brilliant.

Thank you, creepie. :-) Btw, if anyone didn't hear, HBO's airing 11 of his 14 specials starting tonight (June 25) at 8PM EST on HBO2 until about 2AM, then continuing tomorrow at the same time. Also, NBC will pay tribute by airing the first episode of SNL on Saturday.
I read the interview with Kevin Smith.
Is SNL going to be the regular time 11:30 EST with the first episode? It's great "feeding fingertips to badgers"
(or is it wolverines? I don't remember)

Yep, 1130 EST.
The Architect: "I can't help it. It's very lonely in here. Ergo, I haven't been with anyone in a very long time, not counting myself. Or this chair. I call her... Linda."
His part was one of the only good things about Scary Movie 3.
