I am a Wiccan (lapsed) and a long time scholar of anything that I found to be beyond the realm of the everyday: folklore, mythology, legends, magic, the occult, and of course horror movies. I am particularly into Zombie flicks and as you might tell by the nickname and the headline- anything to do with the many types/incarnations of the boogeyman. If you are like me then you can't help but plan how you would survive and deal with the crazy situations that you see in horror films and the most enjoyable films are the ones where you think you might have a chance in hell of survival. That of course is the zombie side of it (slasher side would work here too) survive a zombie apocalypse or an attack by a crazed slasher. Then the boogeyman, supernatural, evil entity side of it well that is scary because let's face it you would be just plain screwed. Am I right? Isn't it fun to be scared? It is like being a child looking into the dark again....

I'm guessing that I'm older than most of you. I am a Tweener, not quite a baby-boomer, not quite a Gen-Xer. I am fanatical about making Best of lists, and enjoy comparing these with others. Love late '70's, early '80's horror movies, and some of recent vintage as well. Stuck up here in Maine, I have lots of time to read horror stories and watch horror movies. Phantasm is the best "brother" story ever! Oh, yeah, I have a collection of old Fangoria mags from the early days. And don't tell anyone this, but I am a social studies teacher in an area high school, so I am very familiar with first-period zombies.
...

I've been a horror movie freak since I can remember. Some of my fondest memories from early on are of watching the classics played late friday nights, Dracula, The Wolfman, The Frankenstein series. As I grew up my taste in movies grew as well. I easily progressed to late night Hammer films and into sneaking into movies like Friday the 13th and Halloween. Then I discovered Zombies ala Romero and I was hooked. They are the coolest sorts of movies. Now I watch only the best (and worst) of what comes out. Fortunatly, the horror industry shows no signs of frailty. If you had the choice to die or become a zombie which would you pick? Me too.
See you on the other side!
